Sports injuries are often one of the most common causes of everyday aches and pains and very easily sustained. Most sports injuries are easily avoidable and due to over doing certain activities, failure to warm up or cool down sufficiently or using equipment incorrectly. Daily exercise is hugely beneficial though and it is important therefore to ensure that you start your exercise regime based on sound knowledge from an expert and where possible follow a set exercise/gym routine.
The ankles, knees and the back are more commonly seen in sports injuries although any muscle, ligament or joint can be affected. Usually an injury is shown by soreness in the area, swelling and bruising. Immediate rest should be sought first of all and the application of heat and/or cold packs can often be very effective at bringing down any bruising and swelling. Painkillers such as Paracetamol or Ibuprofen can help with any pain but if you think you have a serious injury such as broken or fractured bones then you should seek medical attention.
